Here's a lil something to read!

Although I happen to love Maxine, I want to warn that some of the material may be sensitive to some....just a warning. I hope to be back tomorrow with some fresh material. I wonder if I am the only one that waits until the last minute to shop etc.? I tell ya, I will be so glad when the holidays are over. I need my sanity back! lol
PRESIDENT IN 2008?

Here we are already discussing the future President of the United States in the Year 2008.

For those of you who would like a choice for President, we have a solution: It is probably time we have a highly qualified woman as President. One choice is a very special lady who has the answers to all our problems.

PLEASE give it a thought when you have a moment...

MAXINE FOR PRESIDENT!

Very eloquently put ... don't you think?

Maxine on 'Driver Safety'. 'I can't use the cell phone in the car. I have to keep my hands free for making gestures.'...

Maxine on 'Housework' 'I do my housework in the nude. It gives me an incentive to clean the mirrors as quickly as possible.'

Maxine on 'Lawn Care' 'The key to a nice-looking lawn is a good mower. I recommend one who is muscular and shirtless.'

Maxine on 'The Perfect Man' 'All I'm looking for is a guy who'll do what I want, when I want, for as long as I want, and then go away. Or wait nearby, like a Dust Buster, charged up and ready when needed'

Maxine on 'Technology Revolution' 'My idea of rebooting is kicking somebody in the butt twice.'

Maxine on 'Aging' 'Take every birthday with a grain of salt. This works much better if the salt accompanies a Margarita.'
'I'm telling you ... she's the perfect candidate.'

'The only two things we do with greater frequency in middle age are urinate and attend funerals .'

'The trouble with bucket seats is that not everybody has the same size bucket.'

'To err is human; to forgive, highly unlikely.'
'Do you realize that in about 40 years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos and pierced navels?? (Now that's scary!)'

'Money can't buy happiness--but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.'

'After a certain age, if you don't wake up aching somewhere . you may be dead.'

If you don't forward this to ten of your friends within the next five minutes, nothing will happen ... but you'll rob them of some much-needed laughter.

First Snow Fall and my Secret Santa Gifts!

When we returned home yesterday, I was surprised to see a package sitting on my doorsteps! The box contained my gifts from my Secret Santa! Last month I participated in a Secret Santa Swap and I didn't expect my gifts to come so early! Ilene Murphy had my name and she made me so happy! It's like she knew exactly what I liked. The papers, stamp and embellishments are so perfect. I love my gifts and thank you so very much Ilene and Happy Holiday Wishes to you.

Here are a couple pictures of our first snowfall. I took these before we left on our Thanksgiving holiday vacation. The highways were clear and in the town my son lived in there wasn't any snow at all!

Another B&W Card

The weatherman is predicting a snow storm for our area tonight, I know that the snow will come eventually but I wish it would wait a couple of days! *smile* We are supposed to go out of town in the morning and spend two days with my oldest son and his family. Since I have no control over the weather, I'm going to try not to worry about it. *nervous smile*
This B&W Card is my final card for a few days, I'm going to take a break and get back into my routine. I'm trying to make a series of cards before the holidays and some of them will be arriving on someones mail box very soon!

The stamp is from The Angel Company. I really like this stamp and it comes in a set with four silhouettes. The card stock is from Papertrey Ink (white) and The Cut Cardstock Company (Black Shimmer). The B&W print is from my scrap stash. I used my Spellbinders Die Cutting System to cut and emboss my card stock. The inks used were Versa Mark and StazOn (Black). I embossed the stamped image with Black embossing powder. The flower and pearl are from Stampin Up. The ribbon is from Michael's.

The 2-5-7-10 box is a favorite of mine. The instructions can be found at Splitcoast Stampers. The card stock is Papertrey Ink (white). The stamp is from The Cats Pajamas. I used Black Stardust Stickles and the ribbon is from Michael's.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope everyone has a beautiful Thanksgiving Day!

I have a couple of cards to share

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I would like to wish everyone a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving Holiday!
To show my appreciation to Angie, I know it's late but I haven't forgotten.
I am so thankful that God has blessed me with a loving family and wonderful friends. I have grown to realize that things happen in life for a reason and that when one door closes another one opens. I have made mistakes along the way and some I regret deeply. However no matter how much it hurts I am strong enough to say two simple words" I'm sorry". I am thankful that God has blessed me with the common sense to know that I am not always right and the strength to apologize when I hurt someone else's feelings. It takes courage to say "I'm sorry" but you feel much better afterwards.

I am so thankful that my mother is alive, although she doesn't know who I am anymore I'm still thankful! I thank God for my mom's tough love, the experience of her fussing at me and the long speeches that followed. I would love to pick up the phone and hear her beautiful voice laughing or fussing....the complete package!

To make a long story short, I am so thankful for life itself. I hope that everyone enjoys their day and don't forget to tell someone how much you care about them today and above all...Thank the cook for the wonderful meal (even if it wasn't) *smile* thank her/him anyways.

Peace
Risa(Malieta)

I can see the light.....

I can finally "see the light at the end of the tunnel"! I finished my Secret Santa Project and made five cards this past week. I had a few "ups and downs" but everything finally started to come together for me. I wished that I could have spent more time on the computer but there are just too many things going on around my house right now. We are having some work done around the house, and everything is a mess right now and I'm trying to make cards.....lol Since the work on our home isn't extensive, everything should be done before Christmas and I can't wait for everything to be in it's proper place around here.

Due to my lightning issues, I made a picture box. It very rustic looking right now since I wasn't sure if it would work or not, however from my viewpoint the pictures do look brighter. I will see how everything turns out when I download the pictures.

All of the stamps are from Papertrey Ink and the sentiments are a mixture of MFT and Papertrey Ink. Cardstocks are Papertrey Ink White, Cut cardstock shimmer Red, Green and Black. Inks are StazOn Black and Prismacolor Pencils and OMS. The embellishments are Red Pearls, Stickles and the ribbon is from Michaels. On the X-mas Card with the tree stamp, I applied paper piercing (Ornare) and I used my Spellbinders die cutting machine for matting.

I have a couple of cards to share

I have a couple of cards to share today.A Christmas and Thanksgiving Card. The Thanksgiving Stamp and sentiment are both by The Cats Pajamas. The DSP is Basic Grey.( I love that paper!) The card stock is SU's Chocolate Chip and Cut Cardstock. The inks are Prismacolor Pencils and glitter pens. The hardware is from We R Memory Keepers and The paper piercer is Ornare and the ribbon is SU's.

The first card has the same components of the second card except for the stamp. The stamp is by Papertrey Ink. I messed around with my Copic Markers for this card, I'm getting the "feel" of the Copics but I seriously need more practice using them. The Red Pearls were brought from Ellen Hutson's embellishment section.
Thank you for stopping by:)

I'm still here.......

I sometimes wish that there were more hours in a day! I have three projects going on at once and everything has to be done by this weekend. I'm in my craft room working away on these projects....it seems like yesterday was still October and I can't believe that Thanksgiving is next Thursday!!!!! Hopefully I will get a chance to download some pictures of a couple of cards, the rest of my projects will have to wait until after the holidays. I don't want my partners to see what they are getting before they actually get it. I want to keep the suspense.

So I hope that every one's day is going a lot smoother than mine and I also want to say that I have been peeking at all the lovely cards out there and I will make some time tonight to make comments:)

I've been tagged!

Jana of Two Worlds tagged me, thank you Jana:) I copied the questions and posted my answers. According to the rules I now have to tag 5 other people.

1. If you could have 100.00 worth of scrapbook paper or assorted embellishments, which would you choose? I have so many scrapbook papers, I would say I want embellishments instead.
2. If you had to choose between using only stamps or rub-ons, which would you choose? This is an easy one. .. My choice would definately be the "rubba"!:)
3. If you knew how to do both awesome cards and layouts but could only do one for a whole year...which would you do? I definitely would prefer to make cards.
4. Would you rather own a scrap booking store or have your own scrapping room at home? I would love to have my own perfect studio.
5. What is your CURRENT card making or scrapping style? I don't have a specific style.
Here are the rules..............Please answer the questions on your blog and tag 5 more people to answer the same questions..........make sure you list on your blog who you are tagging. I now have to tag 5 people. I'll list the 5 people later today!!"

Thank you all so so much!

I just want to thank everyone for the nice and warm comments. I have pinched nerves in my neck and lower back due to an automobile accident. To be honest, I am in pain daily, but when those pinched nerve endings are inflamed....it is the worse pain! I don't mean to sound like a whiner, I'm just trying to describe how painful pinched nerves are. I also have to say that I have met some of the best people in the world through blogging! You ladies are fantastic...*getting mushy here* and I have missed all of you.
Malieta:)

I'm still here.......

I'm at home rest and taking pain meds. for my neck. If it isn't better by Monday, I am going to have to call my doctor and make an appointment for a pain shot. The pain (due to a pinched nerve) hurts really bad and my left hand is numb and has a tingling sensation through it. I get this sensation all the time but it has never lasted this long before. I hope that everyone has a nice weekend and I hope to share something with all of you soon:)

Dark Pictures!

I have been told that my pictures are barely visible, I don't know what is going on but I am going to work on the lighting issues. I apologize and thank you for visiting:)

Jen's Sham Challenge

This card is for Jen's Sham Challenge. I loosely based this card from the sketch pictured on her blog.
The card stock is from the Cut Cardstock Company and Bazzill. The designer paper is unknown, I cut out the baby ducks from the remaining paper and mounter them with pop dots. I used my glue pen and drizzled SU's Drizzling Diamonds on various parts of the ducklings. The sentiment is from Stampin Up and the ribbon and pearl are from my stash.

Poetic Artstry's Mojo #9 Challenge

This card is for Julee's Mojo Challenge #9. I followed her sketch and I am pleased with the results.
I love SU's Drizzling Diamonds, INR the shimmer is fantastic!

c/s: The Cut Cardstock Company (base layers) I love their shimmering card stock.
DSP: from my stash, I think it is from We Are Memory Makers
stamp: The Cats Pajamas and the sentiment Stampin Up
inks: Palette Black ink, SU's Really Red and Prismacolor Pencils and OMS
tools: giga circle scallop punch and paper pierce tool. I embossed the snow flakes (The Cats Pajamas Stamp) with gold embossing powder and I used SU's Drizzling Diamonds. The ribbon is from Michale's

I'm trying to get back into my routine....

Thank you Yanitza...thank you very much and you make me smile too!

I'm trying to get back into my routine, I have pinched nerves in my neck and lower back. When those nerve endings become inflamed....the pain is unbelievable. There were so many things I wanted to do but couldn't...my pain meds. make me so drowsy. Well I'm feeling better but not great, my doctors appointment is in a few weeks, I hope I can wait until then to see him. He gives me cortisone shots in my neck and lower back the shots help so much. But how much longer can I continue to get these shots????
Well enough about me, I did manage to finish two cards last night. When I'm feeling normal and pain free...I make additional cards. I just make the base and a layer or two and put the foundation aside for later use. It works for me, all I have to do is pull the foudation cards out of the folder and decide on the stamp and embellsihment(s) and ta daaa a card. lol ( I hope my pain meds. aren't making me sound silly)lol

Yanitza of Arquitectura en Papel blessed me with this You Make Me Smile Award....you make me smile too Yanitza. Check out Yanitza's blog, she has some beautiful cards on her blog.
