Afro American Mother's Day Card!

Good Afternoon Everyone,

In my part of the world we are still experiencing problems associated with too much rain... flash flood warnings ...flooding basements etc. Smiley from millan.net According to the news, some people have really had a problem with flooding basements and backed up sewers! Thank goodness we haven't had any problems with backed up sewers in my area...Yuck! Still...My husband and I have been concerned about all the rain and we are keeping an eye on our basement for signs of water. So far...all is well and I hope that our basement continues to stay dry! Smiley from millan.net

In the meantime, I would like to share with you an African American Mother's Day card, a RAK from Jamee and an award from Kyoko!

The stamp I used to make my Mother's Day card is from the Rubbernecker Stamp Company. I found some of the most beautiful and rare African American stamps on the Rubbernecker site and I had to have them! I kept my card clean and simple and when I find the right Mother's Day sentiment, I will attach it. For some reason.....none of my sentiments "felt right". I hate when this happens to me because at the end of the day, I will most likely end up with the sentiment that caught my attention in the first place!

After I finished coloring my image with my Copic Markers, I felt the background scene was too busy for my particular needs and trimmed off that part of the stamped image.

After carefully trimming around my image, I adhered her to a separate piece card stock with Tombow Multi liquid glue. In my opinion, this glue is fantastic and once it takes hold, you don't have to worry about your card falling apart on you.
Card Details................ stamp Rubber Necker Stamp Company, c/s SU and PTI, Copic Markers and Copic air brush system for background colors, SU's corner punch, black pearls and sheer black ribbon ------------------
A couple of weeks ago, Jamee (Pink Beach Ball) sent me a cute RAK all the way from Hawaii! Thank you so much for thinking about me Jamee and making my day shine! Smiley from millan.net

I also want to thank Kyoko (Cards and Tags Mania) for awarding me with this awesome award!! I apologize for not posting both the award and RAK sooner! You ladies are the best and thank you so much for your acts of kindness! Smiley from millan.net

Whew....sorry for the long post today! Take care of yourselves and thank you so much for stopping by!

CBCC #36 Color Challenge!

Good Morning Everyone and Happy Tuesday!

Today's CBCC Challenge is to make a card using the colors pictured in the "blinkie".....Regal Rose,Certainly Celery and Almost Amethyst.

I've been thinking about using my neglected Sarah Kay Stamps lately and this challenge was the perfect opportunity for me to do so. This Sarah Kay image is a personal favorite and I thought that the colors of this weeks challenge would complement each other rather well with all the detailing of this stamp .

If the pictures come across the screen a bit dark, I apologize. The skies have been rather gray all day...more rain again!!!

Card Details..........

stamp Sarah Kay, sentiment SU, c/s SU and PTI, DP Imaginisce, Copic Markers, Nesties, flowers and ribbon.

ISS Sneak Peek....Mieko!

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I hope that you all had a great weekend. The weather around here is quite soggy and according to the weatherman....more rain is in the forecast. Smiley from millan.net Well it's not gonna rain on my parade....perfect day to get creative and visit my blogging friends!

In the meantime, I would like to share Mieko with you, Mieko is a new member to ISS Anime line. I love ISS Anime characters.......especially the eyes! Getting back to the story, Mieko is basically a image that features the head and upper shoulder area. I know that their is a proper name and all, I just can't think of it at the moment! *lol*

After much thought about how I would use Mieko, the light bulb Smiley from millan.net came on...stamps like these are perfect for book markers, lid decorations and on and on!!!! I brought some huge paper clips a couple of years ago and never opened the package until a few days ago. Why do some of us do stuff like this.... buy stuff and put it away because YOU know that you will need it one day type of thing? Smiley from millan.net

I kept my book marker relatively simple, the only embellishments are ribbon and one gem in the hair bow area. The inks used were Copic Markers. The card stock Neenah Solar White and Bazzil. Originally I wanted to use my oval Nesties, but ended up using the rectangle dies instead. I brought the huge paper clips at an office products store. To adhere the paper clip, I used the 1/2 inch size double sticky tape and adhered the clip to the base layer. I imagine that any size tape will do but for added security, I used the 1/2 inch sized tape. I also used pop dots on the back of the top layer for dimension.

Well...I have to get dinner ready and prepare the week. Smiley from millan.net Have a great day and thank you all so much for stopping by!

Hugs

InStyle Stamps 2nd Blog Hop!

Hello everyone and welcome to InStyle Stamps 2nd Blog Hop! The theme of our blog hop is "Contain Yourself"! Well....since Mother's Day is approaching, I wanted my project to center around what mother-hood is all about for most moms. I made a slider box by tearing apart an empty box that held cosmetics and made a template from it.

I decorated the cover with Basic Grey's Porcelain designer paper and embellished the cover with flowers and buttons. I made the handles by using the largest size Marvey U. scallop punch. Since I only needed 3/4's of the scallop, I cut off a quarter of the scallop and then I centered a med. size circle punch on the scallop and punched out the center portion. Ta da... purse handles!
The sentiment was computer generated and it reads "The definition of the word Mother".

The sliding compartment contains 5 note cards of various images that briefly describe some aspect of what it means to be a mom.

I wrapped up my project by making a Mother's Day card to compliment my "Contain Yourself" project.

OK....enough about me...it's time to give you the juicy details about our blog hop! We are going to have a few challenges today and let me tell ya' Virginia is going to give away some FANTASTIC gifts! To keep in tune with the challenges click on this link to ISS Forum. CBCC #34 Brayer Challenge

Good Morning Everyone!

Today's CBCC Challenge is to create a project using the brayer. I have had my brayer for over a year and yesterday was the first time that I have ever used it. It's a fun technique and really comes in handy when you want to ink up a large space.

To make my deep sea background, I used my brayer and applied several shades of blue to a 5X5 piece of paper. After my paper was completely inked, I let it dry and used my Nesties die to cut out the desired section. My Greeting Farm image was colored in with Copic Markers. I trimmed my image and placed her onto the brayered die cut at an angle. I left the sentiment area blank for the moment. The DP and ribbon are from my scrap supply. I used tiny flowers, pearls and MS lace punch to embellish my card.

For more inspiration, please stop by and see the other CBCC DT members creations.

Bobby Wants To Know.......

Bobby is the newest member to InStyle Stamps Anime collection and he is an unhappy camper at the moment. Just look at his facial expression, his cheeks are flushed and he looks a bit sad.

The sentiment is computer generated and I got the idea from a song by Todd Rundgren titled "Can We Still Be Friends". The card stock and design paper are all from Papertrey Ink. To give my card some texture, I sewed around the background mat and then I tore the edges of the DP. The inks used were Copic Markers. To embellish my card, I used my Cricut Expressions Machine and made question marks and brackets. I also used copper brads, Liquid Glass and airbrushed around my image.

I'm Back!!!!!

Hello Everyone!

We returned home from our trip about 30 mins. ago and I am super tired!!! My husband and I had a great time together and the food was the best in the south...so delicious and soulful!

My only regret was not having any access to the Internet.....talk about a few moments of "with drawl symptoms"! *lol* After we "settled in" and exchanged hugs with the kids, I had to take a quick moment and log onto my computer. Thank all of you for all of the comments and stopping by! I really have missed coming by all of your blogs and viewing your cards and creations. After a few hours of sleep and getting back into my normal routine, I will slowly but surely catch up on my blogging duties.

In the meantime, I have to get some serious sleep, my eyes are blurry and I can't stop yawning. Have a great day and I'll be around soon!

Hugs

CBCC #34

Hello Everyone!

I have pre-scheduled this post and I'm hoping that I don't have any problems with Blogger. (fingers crossed here) This weeks CBCC Challenge is to make a card featuring a toy! Well....I'm a doll collector and I decided to use my Magnolia Stamp from the Pink Collection for this toy challenge.

The doll I used to base my card off of is from my Beanie Baby collection...I think she is adorable!

As I stated in the previous paragraph, Tilda is from the Magnolia Pink Collection and I thought that she would be the perfect model for this toy challenge. Today...Tilda is representing my toy!.

Should you decide to participate in this weeks challenge, make your card and upload your image to Courtney's Blog or if you upload to SCS/PCP, please use the keyword CBCC34.
Each week, Courtney gives away a prize to the winner, and who knows...the winner could be YOU! For more inspiration, click on the names of the other very talented CBCC Chicks!
