My first cards for 2009!

Good Monday Afternoon everyone!
After cleaning up my craft room and re-organizing it after last years mess, Shocked I was in the mood to create again. While browsing around different blogs, I notice that most people are already starting on their Valentine cards and I decided to get a head start on my Valentine cards as well. Circle Of Hearts While trying to get a "feel" for what I wanted for my cards, I decided to keep my first cards simple. As I continue to make more cards, I will probably expand my creative process a bit more. For todays card, I used a stamp from SU named Happy Heart Day. This stamp was very popular last year and became a "must have" on my list. However... by the time I got around to purchasing Happy Heart Day, it was a bit too late to make Valentine cards. To make a long story short, I simply stored the stamp set for later use and now is the time to use it.

Staying in the simple card mode, I opted for a single layer card. The card stock that I used for this card is called Pure Luxury brought from Gina K. This card stock is similar to SU's Whisper White but heavier in paper weight. I believe SU's Whisper White is an 80 pound paper weight while Gina K's Pure Luxury card stock is 120 pound paper weight. Although I am a big fan of Papertrey Ink's Stamper Select card stock, the inks from the Copic Markers tend to bleed through the card stock a bit. So for my single layer card, I tried the Pure Luxury card stock by Gina K and the results were perfect! I experienced no signs of color bleeding through the card stock and I love the clean finish inside my card.

The inks used were Adirondack Pitch Black and Copic Markers. To embellish my card, I used Dazzling Diamonds glitter, dew drops and SU's Pretty in Pink ribbon.

I also want to share a couple more Christmas cards that I received while we were on vacation last week.

I REALLY like the simplicity of this card. Thanks for the information about papers. I am a copic user and have been having a hard time finding a paper that doesn't bleed. Happy New Year!
