The Pixie Cottage Challenge #7....sketch

Hello Everyone,

Now that The Pixie Cottage DT has rested up, it is time to resume our bi-weekly challenges. We are starting the year with a sketch designed by our very own DT member, Renata. Way to go Renata and thank you for the inspiration!
While cooking dinner a couple days ago, an idea for this sketch came into view. I hurried up finished dinner and planned to make a frame with my new EK Success Hearts & Scroll border punch. I cut four pieces of card stock into 1" strips and punched each strip of c/s with my punch. I then carefully placed each piece of the already punched c/s onto my card and very lightly drew a line at an angle on each of the corners. After cutting each of the strips on the angle, I replaced them on my card and numbered them. Then I carefully glued each of the punched out strips making a frame.

My card base is a square piece of c/s and I ran the top mat through my Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots embossing folder. I created another mat with my Nesties large oval and scallop dies. I paper pieced my images dress and she has three layers for her dress. I applied two small pop dots to the center of the first piece and gently glued the outer edges of her dress. The second two layer are glued on top of the first layer minus the pop dots. To keep her head from looking too small, I stamped another image, colored her and then cut out only the head and hair portion and glued it over the original stamped image.

While making my card, I forgot about how everything would look underneath her dress! I should have pre-colored my images dress before paper piecing it. I tried to cover up the whiteness but it still looks a little messy. When I finished my card, I tied a piece of ribbon applied a half pearl and adhered it to her dress.

For more sketch challenge inspiration, be sure to check out The Pixie Cottage's DT cards at The Pixie Cottage Blog. Have fun with the challenge and we can't wait to view your creations!

Oh Risa,

I'm speechless! What an awesome dress that "pops"! She looks sad, but I'm sure it's just my first impression of her facial expression and in her eyes.

Gina
