Verve Visual Sketch Challenge

I found a few Afro American stamps at the Rubbernecker Stamp Company that I had to have! In honor of Black History Month, I will post a card featuring one of these beautiful stamped images throughout the month of February. I thought that Verve Visuals sketch was perfect for my image. I brought all of the images that were shown at Rubbernecker Stamps. I have to admit that coloring these images was a challenge. I had to leave my desk several times in frustration and just stay away a few hours or a day even! In order to get the right skin tone, I had to picture a person I knew in my mind. Thank goodness I had ordered a bottle of Colorless Blending Solution. I ran out a few times and had to re-fill my Copic Marker container. I'm not a "pro" but I realize that in order to achieve various skin tones, I had to start with the color Skin White and layer and blend the colors sand, tan and brown. Afro Americans come in a variety of colors and I'm going to try to achieve the various skin tones each time I post a different card.

Girl,

This is why I love your blog and I swear we're sisters separated by birth and a couple lines down the DNA chain. This is totally amazing and I think we POCs need to see more of this!!! You did an awesome job with the Verve sketch but in addition to this, you picked the greatest image to personalize this and make it unique. I think this is the absolute best card you have ever posted--the layout rocks, the colors are great, and your coloring puts most of us to shame!

So thoughtful of you to design something for Black History Month Risa. She came out beautiful and works so well with the background.

Wow, absolutely breath taking. I clicked on your image to make it bigger and still I managed to dent my screen by having it pressed up so tight to your image. I had no idea you were the queen of Copics. If you're not on their design team, you'd better get over there quick with resume in hand. This is a gorgeous image, and gorgeous job.
